Warsaw Adult Education

Warsaw Adult Education program offers free math, reading, and writing instruction to help adults earn a high school equivalency diploma, prepare for college, or get entry-level job certifications.

Indiana now offers the Indiana High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma, which can be earned by passing either the GED or the HiSET exam. Both tests cover five subject areas: math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. The skills tested are at the same level as those of graduating high school seniors.

Key points about the Indiana HSE (including the GED):

• You must be at least 16 years old and have lived in Indiana for at least 30 days before taking the test.
• You cannot already have a diploma from an accredited U.S. high school.
• Classes to prepare for the HSE are free through Indiana Adult Education programs (Warsaw Adult Ed).
• The cost for the HSE test (including GED or HiSET) is $144 or less, which covers all tests, scoring, transcripts, and the diploma. Warsaw Adult Ed has testing vouchers so you could pay $0.
• The HSE is available in English and Spanish, with special accommodations for those who need them.
• All GEDs earned in Indiana before the change are still recognized as valid HSE diplomas.
